Being let go from my Jackson area career before my first child was born was a blessing

Waking up at 5am doing spread sheets and answering emails all times of the day and night... Dealing with unreasonable expectations from people who don't have a real understanding of what people are doing in stores to run the business.  These are common or relatable for many people who work for a living in all different walks of life. The income is nice, so we go for it. The cost is your time and your level of happiness with what you are doing in life.

So many of us are constantly running around doing so much "stuff" that we are missing out on the little things in life that matter so much.  There are great reasons to work for yourself and make your own schedule.  I personally love having the ability to be there for my family and make as many memories as possible.  Coming home when the kids need to go to bed is not the way I want to live my life.  Spending time doing what makes you happy should not be a cost you have to pay in order to take care of your family.

There are ways out there to have the schedule you want and to take care of your family.  I was too intimidated to make the full change from working for someone else to working for myself.  My wife and I had just started our own small business about a year and a half before this on the side.  When I was let go out of the blue for the first time ever in my life, it was the last.  We dove full force into our business and have never looked back.  What a blessing it has been.  We are able to spend time with the family whenever we feel like it and do whatever needs to be done in our lives on our time.

It is a different life style when you wake up because you choose to get up early instead of having to because someone else wants you to do something.  That simple change can impact your satisfaction on different levels.  There are difficulties with being self employed (taxes and health care for example) but overall if you are responsible and self motivated, it can be a great change in your life.

If you are interested in doing something like this, and taking back your life but you  don't have a dream of opening a business of your own, or doing something in particular on your own, google some different ideas. Maybe something will come to you from that, or just randomly one day doing something that you enjoy.  If you are interested in change, but maybe it is just changing to a career somewhere with a built in structure that you can build your own schedule around, give me a call or email and ask about becoming a Realtor®.  It has been very flexible and as productive financially as I want it to be.  I can't say enough how much I appreciate that change.  I hope you find the same satisfaction in what you are doing as I have found.  Best of luck in your search.

I would love to give you some assistance. If you are selling on your own, want to list, buy, become an investor, become an agent, or just have Real Estate questions let me know. I have past experience in Hillsdale County, Lenawee County, Jackson County, Ingham County, and really enjoy Napoleon, Grass Lake, Michigan Center, Jerome, Brooklyn, Cement City, Somerset, Addison, Jackson, and the other surrounding Michigan areas.
